Strengthening anti-corruption through Human Rights: Opportunities for action at the UNCAC
U4 Partner Forum:
This online event will explore why the convergence of anti-corruption and human rights is not only theoretically sound but also practically achievable. It will also highlight the need for the anti-corruption community to step up and integrate human rights language into upcoming UNCAC resolutions (CoSP, Doha, Qatar, 14–19 Dec, 2025).
Speakers will share conceptual insights, regional experiences, and global developments, alongside practical recommendations for advancing this agenda at the CoSP – including example formulations and ideas for specific resolutions. Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly through questions and discussion on ways forward.

New U4 publication on the right to be free of corruption
This discussion will also feature insights from our latest publication, The right to be free of corruption: a new frontier in anti-corruption approaches through national courts, presented by its lead author, Dr Naomi Roht-Arriaza. The paper outlines a new frontier in anti-corruption approaches through national courts. It shows how some national courts are framing corruption as a human rights issue, raising prospects for a stand-alone right that could expand accountability and victim protections.
