Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania
10 November 2026
(Participation in U4's workshops is by invitation only, and is organised through the hosting U4 partner agency.)
As Tanzania advances its broader development ambitions and Vision 2050 priorities, there is growing recognition of the importance of strengthening governance across the gold value chain to maximise the sector’s contribution to sustainable and inclusive development. This includes improving coordination between public institutions, supporting responsible investment, strengthening market integrity, promoting formalisation, and enhancing transparency and traceability within mineral supply chains.
To this end, this workshop will provide a space for dialogue between relevant stakeholders from government, industry, civil society, academia, development partners, and international cooperation. The event will facilitate the exchange of experiences, lessons learned, and practical approaches for strengthening governance and collaboration across Tanzania’s gold sector.
The main objectives of this event are:
- Share evidence and experiences on approaches that strengthen transparency, accountability, traceability, formalisation, and institutional effectiveness across mineral value chains.
- Identify practical measures to support revenue mobilisation, improve market confidence, strengthen public-private cooperation, and create an enabling environment for sustainable sector growth.
- Explore opportunities for enhanced coordination and information-sharing among institutions and stakeholders working across the gold sector.
