U4 and Stop Illegal Fishing are invite U4 partner staff and other actors that they collaborate with to two webinars on countering corruption in the fisheries sector.
Recent high-profile corruption cases – such as the Ematum case in Mozambique and the FishRot case in Namibia – highlight the need to understand corrupt practices in this sector, such as forms of corruption, actors involved, corruption risks along the value chain, and available mitigation measures.
In the two webinars, we will provide insights and explore opportunities of actions for development partners.
- Webinar 1 (Wednesday 3 June, 13.30 – 14.30 CET)
The main forms of corruption – the who, why, how, and when relating to corruption.
We draw on 20 cases investigated by Stop Illegal Fishing in East Africa through work by the FISH-i Africa Task Force.
- Webinar 2 (Wednesday 10 June, 13.30 – 14.30 CET)
How a corruption risk analysis and assessment can help development partners to design and implement fisheries sector projects that mitigate corruption risks.
