U4 specialised training:
SECTOR-SPECIFIC WORKSHOPS

Training locations in 2009:

Corruption in the Education Sector:
Peru (21.-23. October, contact Alessandra.Fontana@cmi.no)
Mali (10.-12. and 16.-18. November, contact Alessandra.Fontana@cmi.no)

Corruption in the Health Sector:
Malawi (7.-8. October)

U4 has organised three in-country advanced training workshops focusing on corruption and ethics in the education sector. The maximum number of participants is 20, and the duration is usually 2-3 full days.

Based on demand, U4 may also develop other sector-specific modules, e.g. Corruption in the Health Sector.

The benefits of Specialised In-Country Training

  • Intensive, interactive learning for busy staff members
  • A sector focus relevant specialists in certain areas of development
  • Experienced instructors and specialists in the field acting as trainers and facilitators
  • A forum to share experiences and learning about best practices and lessons learned

Who can participate?
The training workshop is primarily open to U4 Partner Agency staff, but given available places participants from other agencies as well as government and NGO counterparts can be invited, too.

Fees and costs

  • All participants must cover their own costs of travel, accommodation, and daily subsistence. Lunch is organised for the participants.
  • Staff from DIFID/British Embassies/High Commissions, Norad/Norwegian Embassies, Sida/Swedish Embassies, CIDA/Canadian. Embassies(Canada), MinBuZa, (The Netherlands), BTC (Belgium), GTZ, KfW, BMZ, CIM (Germany), and AusAID (Australia) attend free of charge.
  • Agencies inviting government and NGO counterparts will be charged Euro 600 for invited participants, when their places are not part of the quota of free places for Partner Agencies.

Training methods

  • Lectures, plenary and group discussions
  • Knowledge sharing between peers and interactions from experts
  • The instructors encourage and facilitate active participation in open and frank discussions
  • Participants are required to participate actively in the discussions (no written/oral tests)

Diploma
All participants who attend and participate fully in the advanced training workshop will be issued a diploma.

IN-COUNTRY TRAINING
Locations for the 'Essentials of Anti-Corruption' training workshops and the specialised training modules are decided by the AC coordinators at the U4 Partner Agencies' Headquarters. Requests by field offices for U4 In-country training can be forwarded to them.
