Quentin Reed
Quentin Reed is an independent anti-corruption consultant who has worked intensively on the issue of political finance. He wrote a handbook for NGOs on monitoring election campaign finance, published by the Open Society Justice Initiative, and co-managed a project to monitor the misuse of state resources during the Russian parliamentary elections in 2003. He has provided advice and training for NGOs on monitoring campaign finance in Indonesia, Mongolia and southern African countries and provided expert advice on political finance issues to the Council of Europe in a number of countries including Armenia, Montenegro and Ukraine. He is currently Long-term Adviser to the Council of Europe Project of Support to the Anti-corruption Strategy of Azerbaijan.
Gero Erdmann
For many years, one of Gero Erdmann’s major research focuses has been political parties. He conducted various research projects on political parties in several African countries (Botswana, Ghana, Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia) covering not only the headquarters but also district and village organisations of political parties. In addition, his research covered political party development within the wider context of democracy promotion. He was also commissioned by a German political foundation to study the effects of its political party aid in South Africa. He has published numerous scholarly articles in refereed Journals and books on these issues.
Bruno Wilhelm Speck
Since 1995 Bruno W. Speck has conducted research and published books and articles on good governance and corruption, moving from an academic perspective to political strategies for cooperation and reform on a national and international level. Among his main research areas is party and campaign finance as well as government audit institutions.
Before engaging as a senior advisor to Transparency International he acted as a Director of Research for Transparência Brasil, an anti-corruption NGO based in São Paulo. He holds a doctorate in political science from the University of Freiburg and was a researcher at the Arnold Bergstraesser Institut (ABI) in Freiburg. He is currently professor of political science at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil and has been a fellow researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law in Freiburg and a visiting professor at the Freie Universität Berlin. Professional expertise includes consultancy for INWENT in Bad Honnef and the Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (both in Germany), the Carter Center in Atlanta (USA) and the Chr. Michelsen Institute in Bergen (Norway).
