The Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) is an independent development research institute in Bergen, Norway. We generate and communicate research-based knowledge relevant for fighting poverty, advancing human rights, and promoting sustainable social development.
CMI is home to the U4 Anti-Corruption Resource Centre (U4), the leading resource centre assisting development agencies and practitioners to more effectively address corruption challenges. U4 pursues its mandate through operationally-relevant research and publications, training, communications, and a helpdesk service. U4 is funded mainly by the U4 Partnership—the development agencies and/or foreign affairs ministries of Australia, Belgium, Canada, Finland, Germany, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
